Watch Roxanne Shante's Trailer For Her Upcoming Biopic

Hip-hop heads have anticipated Roxanne Shanté biopic since she teased that Nia Long would be playing her mother (hey Miss Peggy) in the film. Well, yesterday (2/22) fans got a peek at what to expect from the movie as the official 'Roxanne Roxanne' trailer is here! Along with Long, the Netflix original will star Moonlight's Mahershala Ali, and Chante Adams, who will be making her acting debut in the Pharrell and Forest Whitaker produced film telling the story of a rap legend.

If you're unfamiliar with Shanté, born Lolita Shante Gooden, the Juice Crew member put herself on the map during --or when she ignited-- the Rozanne Wars. The then 14-year-old took on Brooklyn's very own UTFO with "Roxanne's Revenge." Recorded in just one take, Shante unleashed almost 5 minutes of off the dome bars. The track allegedly lead to a rumored 100 response tracks being recorded and turned what was a "get back" for missing an appearance into one of the biggest beefs in hip-hop history.

The film is set to hit your computer and laptop screens via Netflix, and according to Pharrell, theaters in New York and Los Angeles on March 23rd.
