Actor Myles Truitt on what he’d like to see from his character B-Mickie in season 2 of BMF, working with Caleb McLaughlin again on Stranger Things and what roles he like to take on if he can’t have superpowers.

Your introduction to acting was through theater camp. Do you believe your on-stage training gave you any leverage when it was time to prepare for roles in front of the camera?
I think it does! Actors who've been on stage for all their lives gain those proper techniques and then apply that to the cinematic world. It was very much an accolade for me doing theater first before I did a film, gaining that experience, learning how to be comfortable in front of a large audience before one camera.
Do you have any aspirations to return to theater work, like performing on Broadway?
I have no aspirations to return to the stage. I give props and respect to the people that continue to do it. I still have love for the game as far as acting and the technique of just learning and getting better. But, It's a hardball game when it comes to doing film and theater, at the same time. It's very complex, a lot of travel, touring, you're on that stage three to five times a week rather than being on set and in your trailer. You only have one mistake performing on that stage, and it's a lot of pressure to have on you rather than having a certain amount of mistakes on set.

Many of your on-camera acting roles have. been in projects with close ties to the culture: Queen Sugar, BET's miniseries "New Edition", and BMF. Was that intentional?
I wouldn't say it was intentional but learning myself as a person and as an actor, I've realized I love reliving history. And on top of that, I get to educate a different generation on something they wouldn't see, hear or read about. I love it; being behind the camera and in front of one learning. It's a fun experience being in different types of clothing, learning the lingo, it's fun reliving that for sure.
In season one of BMF, B.Mickie on BMF is the right-hand man to Terry and Lil Meech. Now that season 1 is over how are you enjoying how B-Mickie is receiving?
I love it! He's an iconic character, he has iconic scenes and the dialogue that comes out of him speaks volumes throughout the series. I love that about this character because it's one of my favorite roles I've played in my career.

At the end of season one, we saw that B-Mickie had to kill his love interest, Kato, and throughout the series, he's one of the only players on the team making those kinds of power moves. In Season 2, will we see how these actions mentally affect your character?
I hope next season you all see a more spiritual side of B-Mickie. He has a mother, and as you said, he did kill someone he loved or said he loved. It would be good to see that spiritual side, more talks about the trials and tribulations that he went through. There's a deeper side to him, but there's also a soft and caring side to him. He has that ying-yang effect.
You'll be on season 4 of Stranger Things coming out later this year. What were the vibes like working on that set being such a different show from BMF?
Being on set for Stanger Things was fun! It was a different environment to work in. Reseeing my boy Caleb McLaughlin was full circle for me because the first film I did was The New Edition Story, and it was with him. I played Ronnie DeVoe, Caleb played Ricky Bell, and they were friends. Now he's a freshman high school basketball player, and I'm a sophomore and we befriend each other in this season of Stranger Things is real cool. The fact that we both aspired and manifested this and it became true, so it was good seeing him. Shawn Levy (executive producer on Stanger Things), produced my first ever featured film, KIN so it was good seeing him. The Duffer Brothers helping me out and being a part of this project was very exciting, so I thank them as well.
What kind of roles are you manifesting for your future?
I want to be a superhero, I want to have superpowers. If it's not superpowers because everyone wants powers, I want to illustrate a story that no one has seen before. A lot of these films are sequels and remakes. I don't want a sequel, I want a classic, and I want to keep making classic films.
