Sweetie Host The 2023 VMA Pink Carpet in FW23 Area
Saweetie loves to have fun with fashion! That fact was more than evident with her 2023 VMA pre-show red carpet look. Hosting the pink carpet, the "My Type" rapper interviewed artists and offered pop culture commentary wearing an Area Fall 2023 dress.
The halter-neck pink dress showcases two oversized caveman-inspired bones, one on the neckline and the other at the waistline in between gathered fabric. The fresh-off-the-runway gown is covered in crystals and features large cutouts on the side of the garment, showing off some torso skin.
On the inspiration for the outfit choice, Saweet shared with her co-host, "Shout out to Area! It's fresh off the runway. I saw this like 48 hours ago. The inspiration behind this is fashion when it first started, caveman days."
The FW24 Area dress debuted within a collection inspired by primal ideas. On Area's Instagram, the brand offered the following show notes for their Fall Winter 2023 Ready-To-Wear & Couture Runway, "This season we explored the idea of the primal instinct and its evolution through fashion history. Starting with bones and fur, materials originally used as means for survival, these transformed through generations into symbols of aristocracy and wealth, and eventually into today’s excess. In this collection, we try to break down those notions and redefine these symbols through alternative material explorations."
