Dries Van Noten is back to showing his namesake label in a runway format to present his latest collection after debuting last season's offerings in a presentation-style showing. It was a wise move; Noten's fall's animal print separates, brocade overcoats, and gem embellished suiting were beautiful, but they didn't need the motion to sell those garments. But for Spring 2023, the Dries Van Noten tiered pleated skirts, wide-leg trousers, and fringe details long enough to drag on the floor needed a moment to sashay. From ruffles to draping, oversized silhouettes, and fabric choices, the movement created as the clothes graced the catwalk brought this collection to life. What was even more lively was the street style outside the show, as fashion insiders wore their fashion week's best--many of them in Dries Van Noten-- especially for Mr. Van Noten.
