At the UrbanWorld Film Festival in the SVA Theater in Manhattan, video streaming service Peacock premiered the pilot episode of The Best Man: The Final Chapters. Coincidentally the showing was at the UrbanWorld Film Festival in this same theater where the initial film The Best Man premiered over 20 years ago.

This newest installment in The Best Man franchise reprises the roles of all the original cast Harper, Robyn, Jordan, Lance, Quentin, Shelby, Candace, and Murch, and what they’ve become after 20 years of friendship, marriage, success, and tragedy.

Malcolm D. Lee, the creator of The Best Man, partnered with Dayna Lynne North to co-develop, write, EP, and serve as co-showrunners. The cast includes Morris Chestnut, Melissa De Sousa, Taye Diggs, Regina Hall, Terrence Howard, Sanaa Lathan, Nia Long, and Harold Perrineau.

At the UrbanWorld Film Festival premiere of the pilot episode; showrunners Malcolm D. Lee and Dayna Lynne North were joined on stage by Morris Chestnut (Lance Sullivan) and Melissa De Sousa (Shelby) for a quick Q&A about The Best Man: The Final Chapters and the significance of the franchise.

The Peacock original was filmed in New York City, New Jersey, and Dominican Republic. Directors for the series include Malcolm D. Lee for four episodes, Charles Stone III, Robert Townsend, and Stacey Muhammad. The Peacock limited series will premiere all eight episodes on December 22, but you can watch the official teaser below.
